    Masterplan This intimate garden in NW Washington, DC, provided the right combination of constraints and opportunities that result in a successful project. The constraints were two-fold, including a strict Home Owner's Association, and very limited square footage. The opportunities included artloving clients, and a wide-ranging palette of materials, both minimal and contemporary in nature.

    The transition from house to landscape was fragmented by a shallow porch and steps. Removing this porch and replacing it with wide stone steps allowed for a graceful flow between inside and out. The bluestone terrace edged with boxwood and pleached hornbeam provides ample space for dining and entertaining.
